Best Buy no longer carrying CD’s!

In an expected, yet unexpected turn of events, Best Buy announced they would no longer be carrying CD’s in any of their retail locations. Starting this summer, July 1st more specifically,  Best Buy will be pulling CD’s from all of it’s stores. Best Buy, being one of the leading electronics retailers in the world, leading the charge into a digital future for music is a very strong move.

Streaming platforms have cemented their position in the music industry for the past few years, and now the fruits of it’s labor are really showing. With CD’s sales totaling roughly 8o Million last year, 10 percent of roughly 800 million sales back in 2001, it’s clear that the new generation isn’t consuming music in the same ways anymore. Spotify, Apple Music, Pandora, and all the other major streaming services may no longer have to worry about physical sales competing with digital sales and streams.

Even more interesting, Best Buy has stated they will continue to carry Vinyl records in select stores for at least the next 2 years. What do you think, are physical CD’s important or is it all about the accessibility digital platforms provide? Leave a comment below and let us know!

Araabmuzik, Providence native, launches “License Lounge” for producers.

Araabmuzik has come a long way since his old MPC days at Hope High School in Providence, RI. After being found by dipset, Araabmuzik has went on to do incredible work with some incredible industry talents. The list is long but includes names like Tory Lanez, 50 Cent, A$ap Mob, and of course the infamous drake diss track by Joe Budden. His latest endeavor sees him trying to change the industry in a major way.

As a producer, Araabmuzik is no stranger to the shady business practices many producers in the industry have to suffer through. Improving the overall climate for producers in the industry was the entire mission behind License Lounge. License Lounge looks to serve as a space for industry producers to have total control over there sales while providing maximum exposure to potential customers.

Mourning the loss of a Chi Drill Pioneer, RIP Fredo Santana

Chicago rapper Fredo Santana, born Derrick Coleman, has passed away at the age of 27.

Unfortunately it seems that Fredo Santana may have suffered from a fatal seizure Friday night (Jan. 19), in his Los Angeles home. Family members of the rapper spoke with TMZ and stated Fredo was found dead on the floor in his home by his girlfriend around 11:30 p.m.

Fred’s mainstream spotlight came along with his cousin Chief Keef in the early 2010s as part of the Chi’s Drill wave. He found his own lane and has dropped popular mixtapes like Fredo Kruger, It’s a Scary Site and his Trappin Ain’t Dead album. He had been working on the second installment in his Walking Legend mixtape series before he passed. Fredo recently tweeted: “Walking Legend 2 is my favorite project an I only got 7 songs done so far 🔥🔥…… can’t wait to it’s finished an complete,”

RIP Fredo Santana.
